Behind The Artist
My name is Ailee Titcomb,
I have been creating anything I can get my hands on for as long as I can remember. My parents noticed, and enabled me as much as they could. The first two colors I was drawn to as a child were blue and yellow. They were always my first choice when drawing with markers, chalk, crayons, pencils and especially dad’s sharpies that were “only to be used to label his burn disks.” My baby blanket I got the day I was born is a Winnie the Pooh graphic blanket that has two main colors, you guessed it, yellow and blue. I brought it with me everywhere.
A person’s visual taste shows you more about them than you could ever imagine, it speaks unspoken truths that you’ll probably never know unless they were to tell you flat out. There is so much more behind someones favorite colors than just the colors. Next time you look at something, that it makes you feel some type of way, good or bad, remember what color your baby blanket is.
My path as a designer has unfolded before me through a series of opening pandoras box, over and over again. With every new project comes a series of learning montages , new softwares installed on my computer or some new tactile craft that dooms me to never having closet space again. Design motivates me because it challenges me, and because learning how to do something the long and hard way doesn’t feel so long and hard, instead it feels like exactly how I am supposed to be doing it.
